The Century of design

The Century of Design exhibit collectively brings honor to different era's of the 20th century and their work's of art. From Art Nouveau, to Dada, each era brings forth their own distinct characteristics. Focusing on Postmodernism, this design features 3 key graphic designers, April Greiman, Nancy Skolos and Kathy McCoy.
Postmodernism was a design era beginning in the late 1960's
defined by its signature style with the use of collages partnered with typography and photography going against the traditional
grid. In the poster design, a collage design is used to embrace the true characteristics of Postmodernism.
Task
Create a poster design and brochures for The High Museum of Art: Century of Design art exhibit celebrating Postmodernism.
Stepping away from the clarity and simplicity of Modernism, artist of this era created designs of exaggeration using vivid colors and geometric shapes, stepping away from the norm. Nancy Skolos was a designer during this period and created many works with her husband, Thomas Wedell under the duo name Skolos + Wedell.
April Greiman an influential designer in the Postmodernism era taught under the direction of famous designers Wolfgang Weingart and Armin Hofmin. She is seen to be one of the first designers to use the computer as a design tool using pixilation and digitization errors in her works.
Katherine McCoy a designer heavily influenced by industrial design was also a huge change in art education as she became a professor at Cranbrook Academy of Art along with her husband Michael helping to present many of their students into the bright world of graphic design along with developing many projects for the schools community.
